In the past, we have played already multiple sessions of a Dungeons & Dragons variant set in the Witcher universe. However, next weekend, we’ll be playing the official Dungeons & Dragons introduction scenario Dragons of Stormwreck Isle with my son & two nephews. It will be the first time they come in touch with Dungeons & Dragons. Since they are all big Lego fans, we’ll be using a custom built Lego Dice Tower!

The Importance of a Dice Tower
Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer in the realm of Dungeons & Dragons or just embarking on your journey through dark dungeons, a good dice tower can be a valuable tool for smoothly navigating your game. And what better way to acquire one than by building your own? With Lego in hand and a dash of creativity, you can construct a marvelous dice tower that not only serves its purpose but also adds to the atmosphere of your adventurous gatherings.
Before we delve into construction, let’s explore why a dice tower is so useful. In Dungeons & Dragons, rolling dice is an integral part of the game. Whether determining the success of an attack, deciphering secrets, or overcoming obstacles, dice are the voice of fate in the game.
A dice tower offers several benefits. Firstly, it helps keep rolls fair, especially when playing on a table that isn’t perfectly level. Secondly, it adds an element of excitement to the game as players eagerly await the outcome of their roll while the dice tumble through the tower.

The Lego Dice Tower Design
I browsed the web for a couple of dice tower designs, and I stumbled upon the Self Loading Dice Tower by Pattspatt.
The different steps are well described, but building it is still a challenge: you sometimes need specific bricks, or some bricks in large quantities. But with some creative replacements, I was able to complete the design.
I did even add a few minor improvements:
- A large base plate to give more flexibility
- A more hollowed-out interior, so that large dice like the D20 don’t get stuck
- And some purely decorative elements
Conclusion
Crafting your own Lego Dice Tower for your Dungeons & Dragons game is not only a fun creative activity but also adds an extra layer of enjoyment and excitement to your adventures. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out, this DIY tower is sure to be a centerpiece at your gaming table. So grab your Lego bricks and get building – your next epic roll is within reach!
